Financial Power of Attorney
A financial power of attorney is a legal document that grants an appointed individual (often referred to as an “agent” or “attorney-in-fact”) the authority to manage the financial affairs of another person (referred to as the “principal”).
The general power of attorney will grant broad powers to the agent to allow the agent to handle most, if not all, financial affairs of the principal. A limited power of attorney will only include specific authority for certain tasks, most commonly for the sale of real estate.
